Three Roman-era Necklaces

The three necklaces here are made of glass beads. Center necklace is strung with original wire but not original clasp. Beads are polished and conical at each end. Multi-braid necklace on left is strung with nylon string, clasp is not original. Beads are wheel-shaped. Necklace on right is strung with monofilament, clasp is middle ages or older. Beads are barrel shaped and rough. Encrusted pile of beads in box shows how beads are found -- as simple balls or grains of aggregated sand and dirt from which the bead is painstakingly excavated. Unguentariums, Balsamariums, Alabastrons, Beakers, Vitriums, Feeding Bottles, Date Glass, Sprinkler Vases and other glass vessels, many from the private collection of Israel General Moshe Dayan. Sold at auction.

Roman-era Pottery and Glass

Byzantine, Roman, Canaanite and Judean amphorae, alabastrons, oil lamps, sculptures, and glass (Roman glass in upper right). A sarcaphogus and amphora in the bottom left and center. Footed pedestal bowls (used for religious and ceremonial services (mid-picture). Judean basaltic stone alter upper right of limestone sarcaphogus (alter from Iron Age I Period Circa X Century B.C.). Redware pottery from the Iron Age period artifacts (reddish) easily distinguished from artifacts of C.E. origins.

The majority of these artifacts were sold at auction. However, I have an amphora in excellent shape, similar to the one in the lower left corner (Price: $2,500.00); a set of five oil lamps with erotic and pornographic motifs ($1,500.00), a dozen or more oil lamps of various sizes and designs, several pieces of roman glass, including a glass beaker with stirring spoon (Price: $2,500.00); and one Judean footed pedestal bowl ($900.00).
